PENNIES FOR PEACE

All February

The Library is collecting pennies for the Pennies for Peace intiative of the Cental Asia Institiute. Pennies for Peace builds schools and provides supplies for children in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Greg Mortenson, founder of the Central Asia Institute tells his story in Listen to the Wind (a picture book) and Three Cups of Tea (a juvenile nonfiction adaptation of the adult title with the same name).

Reading aloud increases the reader's confidence and ability. Reading aloud to animals alleviates the nervousness and stress that children sometimes have reading to adults. And children love animals - what better way to encourage them to read?! Sign up for a 15 minute session by stopping by the Children's Reference Desk or call 973-584-2400 x 503. All participants will be entered into a contest to read an age-appropriate Marley book by John Grogan.

PET ADOPTION

Visit the library to adopt a pet. Noah's Ark, a local shelter, will bring dogs and cats that need homes. Thinking about adding a pet to your family? Don't miss this event!! All participants will be entered into a contest to read an age-appropriate Marley book by John Grogan.
